Every member of our training staff are highly experienced in their field. We guarantee that your training will be delivered by someone who knows their specialty inside out. The Directors at FETS also bring a unique set of skills to the business.

Below is some individual information about some of the team here at FETS.  Our network of instructors is far reaching and you can be assured that your training needs or specific projects will be managed professionally.

Trevor Moss
Director / Owner
Trevor Moss

Trevor was involved in the emergency industry from 1977 to 2018, 19 of those years as a professional fire-fighter based in Wellington and the rest as a volunteer with the Paraparaumu Fire Brigade reaching the rank of Deputy Chief. Trevor has been involved with training since 1988, initially with the NZ Fire Service (now Fire and Emergency NZ) training fire-fighters and since 1998 as the Managing Director of FETS.

In 2018 Trevor stepped back from the operational side of FETS to spend more time with his family and follow his travel dreams.  Trevor remains a key member of the FETS governance team and is just an email away.

Dave McPake
Director / Owner

Dave has been in the emergency response industry since 1985 and maintains his level of expertise by still being a professional fire-fighter with Fire and Emergency NZ (FENZ).  Dave too has been involved for many years in the training field both with FENZ and with FETS.

Sandy McPake
Chief Executive Officer

Sandy has taken on the role of Chief Executive Officer giving Trevor the opportunity to step away from the operational side of the business.  Having worked for FETS since 1990, Sandy brings enormous experience and talent in all facets of the business and has naturally progressed to the role of Chief Executive Officer.

Charles Ollivier
Quality Manager

Charles initially trained in Mechanical Engineering before joining the NZ Fire Service (now Fire and Emergency NZ) as a firefighter. Charles's last role was in NZFS National Headquarters managing NZQA requirements for its status as a GTE.  Charles joined FETS initially to review assessment and moderation processes. The role progressed to assuring FETS training packages are robust and fit for purpose.

Amber Mansfield
Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, Amber is responsible for ensuring all staff know where they are going, what they are doing and having the equipment to do the job. Amber is the first point of contact for many clients, scheduling courses and ensuring that required outcomes are met.

Martin Sutherland
Course Instructor

Martin has been in the emergency response industry since 1994 as a Volunteer Fire Fighter based on the Kapiti Coast and is still a member of the Paraparaumu Fire Brigade.  He has recently been promoted to Deputy Chief, replacing Trevor.  Martin has been involved with training since 2004 firstly with the New Zealand Fire Service training Volunteer Fire Fighters and since 2006 as a Senior Instructor for FETS. Martin has gained a National Certificate in Adult Education Level 4 and 5.

Shane Hegan
Course Instructor

Shane was with the New Zealand Fire Service for 31 years, 20 of those were here in Wellington. He retired at Senior Station Officer level and spent 3 years sailing around Asia in a 44' sail boat. Shane joined our team in September 2009 and with his previous background has complemented the FETS team.

Kent Deverson
Instructor - Christchurch, Canterbury

Kent is now based in Christchurch having taken his family back home and has been working for FETS for over 3 years.  Previously Kent was working for a training provider in the agricultural industry.    Kent holds the following National Certificates:

Occupational Health and Safety (Workplace Safety) (Level 3) (Level 3)

National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (Vocational/Workplace) (Level 5)

National Certificate in Agriculture (Level 4) Sheep Farming

Grant Houston
Instructor - Cambridge, Waikato

Grant has been involved in the emergency services since 1980, 16 of those years as a police officer in Central London before emigrating to NZ and joining the NZ Police in 1998. He served in Taumarunui and the Waikato as a Sergeant before retiring in 2014. He has been involved with training since 2003, with the NZ Police.

 Outside of FETS Grant is a Lifetime Chelsea FC supporter, a keen chef and a sometime long distance swimmer and triathlete having completed the NZ Ironman in 2014.

 Grant joined the team at FETS in July 2014 as full time Instructor based in the Waikato.

Megan McIlroy
Course Administrator

Megan is responsible for ensuring that the instructors have the correct paper work for each course and then follows up at the end of the course by completing the end of course reports, certificates and loading any NZQA credits on to the frame work.

Areene Dantanarayana
Financial Administrator

Areene is responsible for accounts receivable and payable and does a fantastic job of paying the wages.
